Hurricanes tend to pop up quickly in the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico. It is a good idea to think ahead and prepare. Generators are one of the main ways to prepare for loss of electricity. If you plan to use a generator in an emergency, a transfer switch needs to be installed. A professional electrician is needed to make sure it is connected properly. In an emergency situation, you don’t want to find out that it doesn’t operate properly. Also, you should make sure that your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are tested ahead of time and are in good working order.
